Life Sciences Educator Awards
The Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce a call for nominations for the 4th Annual Life Sciences Awards. The Life Science Awards total approximately $95,000 for the following:
- One $25,000 award to a prominent American scientist, with an additional $25,000 funds for research;
- three $10,000 awards to high school educators;
- and three $5,000 awards to high school students who are judged to exemplify excellence in life sciences.
Award winners will be honored at an event to be held at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Monday, July 11, 2011. The nomination deadline is Tuesday, April 5, 2011.

Microsoft Partners in Learning 2011 U.S. Innovative Education Forum
The Innovative Education Forum (IEF) is part of a worldwide program from Microsoft Partners in Learning. The program recognizes innovative educators and schools implementing 21-century skills in the classroom and the school community with the goal of improving teaching and learning. The Innovative Education Forum seeks to showcase creative and inspiring examples of how educators and schools are using technology.
The U.S. Innovative Education Forum will be hosted on the Microsoft campus in Redmond, WA July 28-29. The theme this year is "Engaging students. Inspiring creativity. Preparing for the future." It focuses on how educators and schools engage students to solve difficult problems while inspiring creativity and, ultimately, preparing students for the future.
Educators are encouraged to submit class projects as individuals or in collaboration with a colleague. School leaders are also encouraged to submit projects that highlight how technology is being used in innovative ways throughout the school community.

Central Florida Education Summit - Implementing the Common Core State Standards
The Central Florida Education Summit will be hosted by the Central Florida Partnership and sponsored by the Orlando Regional REALTOR Association, in partnership with the National Chamber Foundation, the Institute for a Competitive Workforce, and the Central Florida Public School Board Coalition.
U.S. News STEM Solutions National Conference
U.S. News STEM Solutions 2013 will bring together business, education and government leaders who have long recognized the need to connect the dots between STEM education and careers. Adding to last year’s successful conference format, the second edition will give more dedicated time for these leaders to interact and collaborate.
